Winter Operations Management System


For the effective management of winter operations, Autostrade Tech has developed specific infrastructure for assembling, tracking and monitoring the fleet of operating machinery and vehicles involved.

In order to keep the entire roadway situation under control, the system tracks the relevant vehicles through specific equipment installed on board. 

System features include:

  • Calls from machine operators during the winter;
  • Tracking operating machinery working on a map and monitoring operating parameters during the winter;
  • Tracking auxiliary vehicles during the winter
The system consists of:
  • The supply and installation of controllers and sensors located on vehicles used in winter operations
  • Managing snow operations including:
  • convening the operators assigned to operate the machinery;
  • tracking the vehicles on maps;
  • monitoring operating parameters.

The service can function with an Internet connection and an enabled terminal using a simple browser.

The maps show not only the actual positions of the tracked vehicles, with their associated operating parameters, but also other georeferenced objects with a variety of characteristics. It is thus possible to also display cameras, weather stations, variable-message panels, traffic information (queues, accidents, etc.) and the information they provide (live video, weather, message displayed on the VMP, etc.) in a single environment.



The devices used on snow vehicles are placed in a kit that includes a watertight container and sensors specially designed to be placed on snowplough equipment: a controller connected to a pressure sensor (pressure switch) also allows to measure the position of the blade (in idle position and/or down in working position) and the pressure at which it is working.

Other devices are placed on the operating machinery (salt-spreader and chloride-spreader) and measure operational information about working parameters of the vehicle (such as the quantity of salt and/or chloride spread per unit of time).
